Description
In 1970, a cat arrived at the Gulfport Casino.
He was named and cared for by the workers of the casino until his death in 1985.
A monument was built to him to house his ashes,
Some people claim that the wind movements on the beach are the ghost of this cat.
The Gulfport Casino is now owned by the City of Gulfport,
and is rented out as a ballroom for weddings and special occasions.
The staff named him “Morris”, probably after the famous finicky 9 lives tabby cat,
who first appeared in commercials in 1968.
This Morris lived at the Gulfport Casino for fifteen years.
When he died, they built a small monument to hold his ashes behind the casino,
right next to the beach, complete with a statue of his likeness.
Some feel like Morris still haunts the nearby beach to this day.
Paranormal Pets Radio Show conducted a broadcast investigating the "Ghost Cat" story
Interviews with locals and business owners showed that most knew of the legend,
but no one had directly come across the cat.
They did add that the cat's spirit is supposed to show up at night,
and that there were other cat stories in the area.
