Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
This painting was created specifically for the
Carter-Sexton Gallery
"Stage and Screen" exhibition of August/September 2014.
It was painted less than five miles from the set location of the Bates Motel used in the original 1960 Hitchcock classic.
The look of the Bates house for the 1960 film was modeled on
Edward Hopper's painting
The House by the Railroad,
a fanciful portrait of the
Second Empire Victorian home
at 18 Conger Avenue in Haverstraw, NY.
In this painting, only four colors (purple, lavender, blue and white) are used
to recreate a short break on the set with the director and the star.
Jonathan Morrill and
Anthony Perkins were acquainted in 1981
