Description
While 'Krampus' punishes bad children,
'Frau Krampus' PUNISHES BAD MEN!
"In German-speaking Alpine folklore,
Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure
who punishes children during the Christmas season
who have misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas,
who rewards well-behaved ones with gifts.
Regions in the Austrian diaspora
feature similar figures and, more widely,
Krampus is one of a number of Companions of
Saint Nicholas in regions of Europe.
The origin of the figure is unclear;
some folklorists and anthropologists
have postulated a pre-Christian origin for the figure."
This piece was unveiled on
Sunday, December 6, 2015,
at the Tonga Hut in North Hollywood, California,
during Tiki Wonderland X, and the "Krampus Art Show".
It was there where it was discovered,
and selected to be displayed at
Creature Feature's, in Burbank, California,
exclusive "Krampus Celebration"
"WE WISH YOU A MERRY KRAMPUS" Group Art Show
opened on Sunday, December 20th, 2015,
and ran through January 3, 2016,
