Description
My High School literature teacher taught her classes as if she were at Oxford University.
She was always dispensing the classics, force feeding us against our wills.
"I'm sure you're all familiar with the Iliad . . ."
she might start with in her opening statements
to her small town New Hampshire pupils of the 1970's and 80's.
For most of my peers, during that raging hormonal time know as puberty, the ‘Iliad’ was the last thing
that we were trying to familiarize ourselves with.
It wasn't appreciated at the time. It is now.
She taught her students the importance
of critical thinking.
